orange county, ca, for example ,the nations 5th largest county, has only 6 detox centers to provide help to thousands of alcoholics and addicts should the feds do more or continue wasting money on war in iraq? we are talking billions

Why do some vocational rehabs only offer jobs in sheltered workshops?

Some people said that everyone knows rehabs are just a joke?
Does everyone feel this way? If so, why do judges send people to these places to get a few weeks off work and now celebrities get off jail time and go to expensive rehabs where they can relax.

Why the hell do public figures always cop out by blaming their " disease?" Yeah I'm talking about Rush Limbaugh, Mel Gibson, Mark Foley & Bob Ney.Cowards. Stop blaming alcohol and take responsibility for your actions. Contrary to what AA preaches, you are not so powerless.

Are there some dangerous people in AA and 12 Step rehabs?
I had to go to a 12 step rehab, and there were some violent criminals in my group. One was convicted of attempted murder. The rehab counselor had us say our address, social security number, parents names, childrens names, place of business etc, in front of everyone I don't want those violent people to know where I live and what my soc. security number is Why do they make you say it in front of everyone?Also all those old men in AA would hit on me it creeped me out. They would talk about masterbating alot.

Can someone tell me if rehabs like "Promises", etc have their roots in Scientology or a similar cult?
I notice there are changes in rebab practices that have evolved from the mid late 80" s on......and some of the language of their print ads, television commericals give me a weird vibe.......Who do these doctor actually represent? I would like informatin on drug and alcohol rehabilitation centers for a mother who would like her three month old child with her. Any listings for California and possibly the closest to Redding California. It is not a court ordered situation just a person wanting rehabilitation and to find her right path in life.She is a Native American Indian so if there are Native American Indian Rehabs we would like that information also.

Why is it a 'double-edged sword' for religious to present their beliefs in such things as AA and other rehabs?
Isn't it just basically substituting one type of addiction for another? I mean, ok so you are not using cocaine anymore, but now you are using all your time 'churching' instead. Why can't there be another way to rehabilitate people that does not include the church? It's like a person cannot get the help they need without having to somehow 'convert' to a belief they do not adhere to.Thank You, Skeptic What if someone doesn't believe there is something greater than ourselves, why should they be forced to believe it in order to get help for their addiction.

Why do Christian drug rehabs boast an 80% success rate, when secular drug rehabs boast less than 5%?

Lets look at this." Clinics" have been coming all over America this is quite strange because no other place in the world has them.And the fact that in some of the Arabic countries and number of lands in Africa there gay people are shotI just don't understand this as a Buddhist former Christian why do some people devote they're lives of hating other people?

Rehabs in Kentucky??
My cousin is bad off on drugs. He is currently in jail. I need to find a rehab for him in Kentucky that takes unite voluchers. The voluchers are $5000. Most the rehabs we call say that the unite volucher will only cover 3 to 4 months then we have to pay for each month after that. His parents dont have any money to cover this. His dad is also on drugs and his mother isnt financially stable enough to pay $1000 a month for rehab. I would like him to be in rehab for at least 9 months to a year. He needs this bad. He is 22 and has been on drugs since he was 12, in and out of jail, stealing everything left and right. ALSO can you please let me know about any other grants of voluchers availiable in Kentucky to help pay for rehab?? Thank you very much.
