If a drug co developed a drug treatment that adds 100 yrs to life and cost $1Million, would it be ethical?
Imagine if a drug company developed a drug treatment that is proven to add 100 years to your life with a cost of $1,000,000. How ethical would this be? Would it be fair that poor people could not afford it? How would you feel if you couldnt afford it? How about if you could? There seems to be a fine line where drug companies are out to make as much money as possible yet some of their advances truly do save or extend lives. My question exagerates current technology but is probably not so far off for future technology. I would also be interested in what you would do if the decision to ban or allow this type of drug was yours? What do you think would happen with such a difference between the lifespan of rich vs poor? How would it affect society?Assume that the aging process would be slowed down. Some great thoughts so far.

As everyone is aware from the Jay Leno Show, Navajo County is ranked 1 in the nation for Meth use. There is not one long term treatment facility in this area. Family Solutions Foundation is a legitimate non profit organization with 501 c 3 . We are in the process of purchasing a facility able to house 80 drug addicted individuals for treatment. However, we need to raise enough money for this program by Jan 31, 2009. I would like to know how we can best use the internet to post information for this project? I cannot take the time off of work to go to inpatient rehab and I think I need something a little more intensive than Narcotics Anonymous meetings. For the record I am currently not using but I am very weak right now and do NOT want to relapse. Thanks
