Do you mean 'overcome'? Well, I'm not an atheist but I overcame the addiction of organised religion. .

No, I never got into addicting behavior at all. Its much smarter to avoid it altogether then it is to try to break it later.

I gave up smoking, pot, and Tumblebugs. The hardest one to quit was Tumblebugs....lol... Seriously, the hardest was smoking. I just made up my mind one day to quit, and did it. That's not to say it wasn't difficult, but I approached it the same way I do most things in my life-I learned the "process " of withdrawal from nicotine, and just went with the flow. Quitting pot was easy-I started getting sick every time I smoked, so I just stopped. Tumblebugs, though.... :D

I quit smoking. Tobacco is more addictive than heroin. I quit drinking. It seemed the right thing to do. I quit going to church, as it was poisoning my mind. I was addicted to religion. It seemed to be the logical and right thing for me to do.

No, I don't have the addictive gene. One time I tried to become addicted to cigarettes to help with my writing and that didn't even take.

I participated in more addictive behaviors when I was a Christian. I quit smoking and drinking, without a god.

Yes, I smoked a lot of pot in my teens and early 20's because I was psychologically addicted to it. It wasn't an arduous process of constant self-discipline for me. I basically just quit cold turkey and shortly after also stopped believing in the gods.

Course, a few most addictions tho are very hard to beat completely, and soemtimes, its healthier to replace it with a' better ' more healthy addiction its not just about psychology, but biology, and sometimes, biology wins, so you have to compromise thts not an excuse to stay addicted to something, its a reason to accept that you cant NOT be addicted to SOMETHING, but you can be addicted to a 'better option' if you want to be free of all addictions, then you probably need years of proffessional behavioral therapy
