Hey I'm not making a prayer request, I'm just asking what if. There's a difference. All I'm asking is, if I did make a prayer request on here - - and also what about my addiction to placebos? I mean, look, this would be a very fervent request. And furthermore, if you can't pray on Religion section, then what section could you possibly pray on? And here's something else that really annoys me, Yahoo wanted to put this question in Joke & Rejoinder section, can you imagine that, it's crazy. What would be the point of praying in Joke section? . |

This is just a guess, but I'm thinking placebos are not that serious. You wouldn't need prayers for that. Try staying away from control groups for a while. . |

ANY addiction is severe and serious. I'm currently in recovery from an addiction to self mutilation, and just because whatever is controlling your life is not drugs or alchol does not mean it is a joke, it does not mean it is easy to overcome and does not mean it will not do severe spiritual harm. The real harm in any addiction is not just the damage it does to your body, it is the fact that you have become a slave to a master other then Jesus. No matter what your substance is it becomes an idol and the chains the devil binds you with. You cannnot break free without the transforming power of Christ. As for your question, no, this is not the proper venue to post a prayer request, I would try a christian website or the website of a local Christian radio station or church. Our local salvation army has a 24 hour prayer line, the number is 812-493-4487. Your request will be put on a list and prayed for my hundreds of people. Even though you didn't directly make a request here, I'll be sure to pray for you. I know how hard and earnest and painfull the prayers to break addiction are. Would you pray for me as well? I would also like to assure you that there is hope. Near the beginning of his ministry Jesus quoted from Issiah and gave us the focus of what he came to earth to do: "The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor. " (luke 4:18-19) YOU are the prisoner he came to set free and he can! I would strongly encourage you to find a recovery group. True healing will come only from Jesus but it helps to find a group of comitted Christians in different stages of recovery both for accountabilty, encouragement and advice. the most important lesson I've learned though is to trust Jesus absolutely. The group I'm a part of is called Celebrate Recovery and I've grown a lot from it. Its worldwide so you may want to put it into google to see if there area any meetings near you, you really do need a Christian based group to help you. I will warn you upfront breaking an addiction takes time and is painfull. The devil will try to derail you with guilt, and doubt but stay strong and let Jesus fight for you. Trust him and remember all his promises of freedom made in his word. If you let this become His battle, He will win it for you. Your in my prayers. |
