Question: Do you think sex addiction is real?
(Posted by: Mind2Mind on 2010-02-08 09:08:48)
When I'm reading about a celebrity. Majority of the time, they fit a description of a promiscuous person, who don't want to take responsibility of their actions. Do you think sex addiction is real or at least over exaggerated. |

I think most of it is a lack of self control. If you look at other addictions, like drugs or alcohol, they have to avoid it totally. I seriously doubt most of these people are going to be willing to become celibate for life, lol. The only case where something might be a serious problem is if a person was abused sexually in the past and uses sex as a way to validate their self esteem. A person like that would need therapy. |

Honestly I don't think so, Addictions are just things that ruin your life, they just turn their addiction to sex like some people turn to painting while others turn to being a homicidal maniac |

I do believe it’s real but I think too many people use it as a copout for the reasons you just mentioned. |

I think people use sex to fill a spiritual void in their heart. It doesn't work and they get addicted that way thinking erroneously that it will help eventually. |

I think that a sex addiction can be a reality if the person is only thinking about sex 24/ 7 i think some of these celebrities use it as a way to get there name out there! |

Politically correct word to describe politicians actors, celebs, so their image wont be 100% tarnished, just blame it on an ailment, it's not real at all. That's like saying video game addiction, eating addiction, talking-on-phone addiction, anything-addiction, basically anything fun you can be 'addicted' to in a sense but it's not a real disorder. |

This is one of those things that you have to have walekd in the shoes of, to understand it. I myself have a hard time believing in sex-addiction but this man at my job makes it believable. He actually talked to my friend which is both our coworkers and told her he has a sex addiction problem and that he goes to the bathroom often throughout the work day to jag-off. Ewwwwwww |

I think Tiger got caught playing with the same sex and all this media attention is to hide and mask the real truth. To answer your question...What is sex addiction ??? Doesn't Willie belong inside the fish cave? What's so addicting to that? |

I thought sex addiction was something every guy had. But, I guess it's when you need sex so bad that you actually destroy your life, that's when you have a problem. I mean losing your career or ruining your family just for a lay? That's a little too much. |

I think we use the word "addiction " too often to candy coat problems that have existed long before we ever came up with this disorder/ disease terminology to explain it. Unless retardation and mental illness are involved, anyone has the power to zip up their pants! Sure there may be underlying causes and things happening in the brain that we can observe and report, but ultimately the choice to have sex or not have sex is something people have the ability to control. The choice to be a cheater and hurt people isn't a disorder. It just shows that you are selfish and have no concern for how your behavior affects others. |

OMG Lance's pic needs to be burned in the deepest, hottest pits of hell available in the universe today, sex releases dopamine like many drugs so in a way yes it can be addicting, just like porn, how it pollutes your mind horribly after watching it, porn is worse, I think. |

No (its not fake), there are tons of women/ men who were sexually abused as children from their parents, or close relative, and being mentally affected by it, the sexual world is the only world they know. I had a psychiatrist who stopped by in my psychology class, and he adopted a little girl who was sexually abused, he said that whenever his daughter was greeted by somebody, she'd hump them, out of instinct. Its really heartbreaking and sad, definately not made up. (that celebrity sh*t is fake, the more juicy the gossip, the more mula for the tabloid businesses) :( |

I think it reflects on their actions, and morals. Take Kim "The Slut " Kardashian, for example. She lives a life of money, rich men and promiscuity. She also drinks like no other, from what I've seen. She'd have sex with a broom for another drink and a tabloid page about her. If she were raised better, learned morals, and quit being Jack Daniels best friend, it wouldn't be the same. Someone who understands that sex isn't something that should be handed out like food stamps has little desire to even sleep with someone, unless they're married. |
