I really don't see how thinking, "Please help me God, " every now and then can hurt you. So a combination.

Since addiction is defined as a pattern of obsessive/ compulsive behavior, a means of altering said behavior will be more effective than merely substituting addictions ie. religion.

"Faith-based " addiction treatment has been repeatedly shown to have no effect other than Placebo. orange-papers.org/ orange-effectiveness.html addictioninfo.org/ articles/ 1160/ 1/ Why-the-12-step-program-doesnt-work/ Page1.html

What is "conventional addiction treatment "? I know the 12 step AA god-based program has a 75-80% failure rate.

AA doesn't 'work' for everyone but it helps enough for the system to keep going. I doubt there's a 'one size fits all' system out there otherwise all the others'd be defunct. ~
